The non- profit Amity Foundation Dragonfly Art Gallery is the newest gallery on the arts scene in downtown Tucson. Located in the renovated carriage house at the Julian Drew Building, 146 E. Broadway, Dragonfly Gallery exhibits artwork from local artists. The gallery sales will go directly to Dragonfly Village to help build and support the programs that it offers to children and families. The gallery will have its opening on Thursday, October 20, 2011 from 5-8 p.m. “Flight of the Dragonfly” exhibit will run through December 20, 2011.
Dr. Lisa Fogle, Dragonfly Board Member, merged her passion for art and her philanthropic nature to help establish the Dragonfly Gallery. The gallery will have rotating exhibits from local artists. You will find an eclectic exhibition of sculpture, oil and acrylic paintings on canvas and wood, jewelry, photographs and more. Currently gallery hours are by appointment by calling 628-3164 x 211.
Visitors to the gallery will be able to view the work of artists such as Jon Lightfoot, long time local artist of figurative paintings with a Central American and southwest theme, Moira Marti Geoffrion, retired University of Arizona art professor. Lisa Agababian, newcomer to the art scene, will have a display of her ceramic sculptures. International artist, Rodney Alan Greenblat will have a few of his paintings and sculptures on exhibit along with Aryen Hart from the Netherlands. You can also view work by Kate Long Hodges, Jeff Van Maren and some exquisite jewelry made by Joseph Birdsong.
Dragonfly Village is under construction on the campus of Amity Foundation at Circle Tree Ranch, 10500 N. Tanque Verde Rd. When completed, the village will house up to 100 family members in twelve residential casitas. There will also be a community center with activity rooms, dining room and study rooms. The center will also include a child care center for infants, toddlers and pre- kindergarten aged children and include outdoor playgrounds. School aged children will attend the schools in the Tanque Verde School District. Dragonfly Village provides the opportunity for families to learn how to mend their broken lives. Dragonfly Village is truly a sanctuary for families to restore their lives.
